Born Pretty Nail Striping Tape Review!

Hey everyone!

Recently, Born Pretty sent me some of their nail art striping tape to try out and review. I had never used striping tape before, so I wasn't really even sure how to use this or what to expect. I tend to do a tape manicure when I want stripes on my nails, but that always takes forever, so I was really excited to see how this would work out.

The striping tape that I was sent came with 12 different colors. Since this was my first time using a product like this, I wanted to keep things simple, so I chose to do just one pink stripe on a neutral colored nail. (The polish I used is Essie's Body Language)

I really loved how this looked! The tape was really shiny and went on fairly easy. The only problem is that after about 2 hours, the tape started to peel off at the ends. (This should be noticable in my pictures) I applied one layer of top coat after applying the tape to try to prevent this from happening, but apparently it didn't work. Over time, the peeling kept on getting worse, so I ended up just taking it off.

I gave my Aunt a few colors of this to use, and she said that hers lasted days without peeling. I'm thinking that maybe I should have used a thicker top coat, or just applied more layers of it.

Despite the problems with peeling, I still really liked how the tape looked at first, so I'm definitely going to try it out again. Does anyone know of any tips or tricks that will keep the tape on without peeling?

  1. I'm also new to taping, so I'm also interested in reading tips and tricks about how to avoid peeling.
The pink stripe looks great! :)

  2. I had the same problem with my striping tape too :-( When I lamented my troubles to a friend, I was told to put more layers of top coat on.

  3. Love this! I have the same problem using my striping tape :(

  4. I put on two layers of top coat and it stayed on for almost a week! Nice for me because I don't like doing my nails very often. :) Thanks for sharing sweetie!
